Passion, Skills and Team Work - We Introduce You to Michael Penaluna
Michael is a local lad, born and bred in the North East of England. He started cooking at the tender age of 15 at Newcastle's Quayside and has never looked back! At the age of 18, Michael headed to London to further his career.
After two years in the capital, Michael moved back to his home region to continue his career in some of the North East's leading hotels. Later, he was employed as Sous Chef for Terry Laybourne and following 4 years of working at Jesmond Dene House was promoted to the Head Chef in April 2011. He has both the passion and skills required for cooking but just as vital he has his team’s best interests at heart.
Within three weeks of running the kitchen Michael maintained the third AA Rosette and has taken the kitchen to another level. Michael put his stamp firmly on the hotel by creating the sensational 10 course tasting menu and has recently introduced an entirely new All Day Dining menu.
He is a fantastic team leader and has the respect of all of his team, making the kitchen a much improved environment to work in. Overall he is passionate to bring out the best in what the north east food has to offer.
