Menu of the Moment at Fischer's at Baslow Hall Chef’s Table

Michelin-starred Restaurant, Renowned for its Imaginative Dishes 

Fischer’s at Baslow Hall stands at the top of a winding chestnut-tree-lined driveway on the edge of the picturesque village of Baslow. Chatsworth Estate is within walking distance and the old market town of Bakewell only four miles away. Baslow is the perfect location to discover the beauty of the Peak District and some of the country’s finest stately homes.
Owned since 1989 by Max and Susan Fischer, the Country House is renowned for its fine food, receiving its first Michelin star in 1994 and retaining it for an impressive 21 years. The multi-award-winning restaurant has an outstanding reputation for its comfort and imaginative cooking, continuing to surprise and delight the many returning guests. Baslow has been lovingly restored by Max and Susan and features six traditionally-styled bedrooms in the house and 5 more contemporary-styled bedrooms in the Garden House.
As you would expect, Head Chef Rupert Rowley, who joined Fischers 13 years ago, cooks with the seasons. The majority of the produce they use is British and sourced from nearby suppliers, including Fischers very own kitchen garden. In spring 2014, The Sheffield Honey Company installed bee hives in the extensive grounds at Baslow Hall and the harvested honey will be used in dishes.

Max Fischer and head gardener Terry Wilson nurture seedlings and plant many varieties of fruit, root and green vegetables and a wealth of herbs each spring. The abundance of herbs and vegetables during the summer months are close by for the chef’s to pick freshly for the day’s menu. They also spend time foraging and picking woodruff, elderflowers and other summer flowers, seasonal fruits and wild garlic to create innovative dishes. Raised beds within the Kitchen Garden at Baslow Hall are currently filled with salads and feature on the menus. High Ashes Farm and Cruck Barn Cottage at Max and Susan’s home in Barlow are surrounded by further produce to supplement the kitchen; all hand-picked by Max and Terry when they are at their prime.
Whatever the time of year, the menus at Fischers-Baslow feature superbly executed classical dishes, using modern techniques and European influences.

Christmas has arrived at Fischer’s Baslow 
Rupert and his team have created a special seasonal menu for December, featuring the very best of winter cooking.

The menu is inspired by Fischer Baslow’s favourite festive ingredients including game, home-grown root vegetables and seasonal fruits. And of course, Rupert has included his famous almond mince pies, yummy! Check the menu out below - available 5th December until Wednesday 30th December. 

The Kitchen Tasting Bench Experience
Get in on the action! New to Fischer’s Baslow, The Kitchen Bench provides guests with the ultimate front-row seat of a busy, professional working kitchen.

Ever wanted to experience a professional kitchen? Then this is your chance! Located right in the centre of the new bespoke kitchen, it accommodates up to four guests, providing a fantastic opportunity for you to observe the chefs creating their award-winning dishes! You will dine from a special Taste of Britain menu.

At lunchtime, this menu is priced at £60 per person or £100 with wine pairings, and £80 per person or £128 wine pairings in the evening. The bench can seat 2 – 4 guests and to fully appreciate the experience, Fischer’s Baslow recommend arriving for lunch at 12.30 pm and at 7.30 pm for dinner for pre-meal drinks in the lounge or garden.
