WARM, WELCOMING AND
AWARD-WINNING – SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
James and Kate Mackenzie took over the Pipe and Glass Inn in 2006, rapidly transforming it into the warm and welcoming pub that it is today. It’s a real family affair – James runs the kitchen, Kate runs front of house.
It took less than four years for the Pipe and Glass to be awarded a Michelin Star, an accolade it holds to this day. It’s also won numerous other awards, including The Good Pub Guide’s National Dining Pub of the Year for 2015, and was placed at number four in the national Morning Advertiser/Budweiser Budvar Top 50 Gastropubs Awards for 2013 and 2014, and at number three in 2015.
BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Airy, elegant and welcoming, the restaurant at the Pipe and Glass offers the perfect surroundings to relax and enjoy amazing Michelin-starred food. The team are dedicated, headed by James in the kitchen and Kate front of house – taking care of everything from drinks on arrival to that perfect last drop of coffee.
There’s nothing cosier than a traditional, Great British Bar. The Pipe and Glass offers the best of both worlds; whether you’re looking for a sandwich in the bar, or the full-blown, Michelin-star experience.
You can also choose from a set menu or blackboard specials, which change daily. They also offer a vegetarian menu and something for the little ones too. And, of course, we cannot forget their tempting selection of puddings and afternoon savouries… There are also tables outside where you can watch the world go by…bliss!
TEA FOR TWO…OR MORE
Delicious sandwiches, feather-light scones topped with jam and cream, tempting cakes – what could be more civilised and English than a traditional afternoon tea?
You can enjoy this indulgent pass time either in the intimate first floor private Hotham Room, or in their cosy bar. Perfect for a celebration, get-together with old friends, or even an unusual business meeting.
Available Tuesdays to Saturdays: for between six and ten people in the Hotham Room (advance booking essential); in the bar, afternoon tea is served between 2 and 5pm.
DINE AL FRESCO
The lovely gardens have always been a favourite at the Pipe and Glass, recently named by The Times as one of the country’s top 50 restaurants with a garden. The perfect place to enjoy a relaxed meal, al fresco style, with views of the beautiful Dalton Park.
Now they are better than ever. James and Kate have been busy remodelling their beloved gardens to include more guest rooms, all with their own themed herb garden, kitchen gardens, medicinal plants and fruit trees – there’s even an intriguing apple tree with direct connection to Sir Isaac Newton.
And, coming very soon, a huge kitchen garden dining table with keyhole serving space – sure to be the hottest table in town. Watch this space for further details…
